This phenomenon, better known as baldness, refers to hair loss of genetic origin. Alopecia areata, as well as other forms of alopecia, can also be treated with hair transplantation. \n\nOn the other hand, hair loss caused by stress or hormonal upheaval cannot be the subject of a hair transplant. What are the different hair transplant techniques?

\nHair transplantation can be performed using different methods: FUT and FUE. As we will see, they are specific and do not concern all patients. \n

FUT

\nFUT, for Follicular Unit Transplantation, is also called the "strip method". This specific hair transplant involves taking a strip of skin from the back of the head, an area not affected by hair loss. The practitioner then takes the grafts from the scalp, and then implants them at the temples, forehead or top of the head. \n\nThe FUT technique is mainly used for people with severe and advanced alopecia. Of course, the operation is performed under local anesthesia, for the patient's comfort. However, the strip method has one drawback: it causes a scar at the back of the head, which will however be covered by the hair. \n

FUE

\nFUE, for Follicular Unit Extraction, consists of taking the grafts directly from the patient's head, which will then be implanted in the bald areas of the skull. FUE can be manual. In this case, the practitioner uses a tool called a "punch", allowing hair to be collected. This procedure can also be carried out with the help of a robot, capable of mapping the patient's skull and thus selecting the best grafts to then implant them. \n\nRead also: Everything you need to know about self-storage\r\n
