In recent years, a new species of mosquito has invaded Mediterranean countries:
tiger mosquitoes. This is how in France, from 2004, this annoying creature has been noticed, particularly in urban and humid areas. \n\nOriginally from southeast Asia, this type of
mosquito causes diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, chikungunya among others. So, how can you avoid tiger mosquitoes and thus prevent diseases linked to their bites? \n\n\n
But first, how to distinguish tiger mosquitoes from other species of mosquitoes?
\nFirst of all,
tiger mosquitoes are differentiated from other mosquitoes by their black and white stripes and especially by the aggressiveness of their bites. This is because their bites are much more painful and can cause severe swelling, and in some cases, an infection that may require a visit to the doctor. \n\nRead also:

The tiger's body is generally larger than the native mosquito. It can grow up to 10mm long depending on the time of year and whether it has recently fed. \n\nTHE
tiger mosquitoes also have a flight range of around 200 m and are usually found near a water source. Like all other species of mosquitoes, they are very attracted to stagnant water; which helps them reproduce. These mosquitoes are intensely active between May and October in all regions, but mainly in the south. \n\n\n
Precautions to take to prevent diseases linked to their bites
\nHere are some tips to consider for avoiding tiger mosquitoes, as well as all mosquito species. \n
1- Use mosquito nets
\nMosquito nets provide excellent protection against bites while you sleep and are specially designed to prevent mosquitoes from penetrating the material. With these mosquito nets, especially at dawn, you will probably sleep better. So, a mosquito net is a good idea so that you can sleep well and ensure that when you wake up, you will not have bites that itch your body. If you are traveling abroad to a place where mosquitoes are active, you can always ring in advance to make sure there is a mosquito net around the bed for example. \n\n\n
2- Remove stagnant water to avoid tiger mosquitoes
\nStagnant water is a breeding ground for all mosquitoes, a true home environment. Ensuring there is no standing water near your home, for example, will certainly make it less attractive for mosquitoes to visit. This can be as simple as removing glasses and cups that hold water. If you're going to the beach for a day, remember that you need to clean everything thoroughly, but don't leave water behind in buckets for example. \n\nOther sources of unclean water may include dirty swimming pools, wells, cisterns, tanks and animal water troughs. So, quickly check where you are for anything holding water, if there is, get rid of it. If you are unable to drain the water, be sure to cover it with mosquito netting if possible. If you give an animal water to drink, make sure it is changed daily. This way you will help prevent the spread of mosquitoes in your area.\n
