The shisha, also called hookah, allows you to smoke tobacco using a water pipe. Coming from the Middle East, shisha is increasingly used by young people in the West. In the rest of this article, we will tell you more about shisha and how it works.
What is a hookah and what is it for?
A hookah is a water pipe used for smoking all kinds of herbs, although it is generally used for smoking tobacco or non-nicotine products.
However, with hookah, tobacco is not smoked in its pure form, but tobacco leaf mixed with flavorings, glycerin and molasses (usually glucose extract, honey or liquid sweetener ).
What do we get with this mixture? First of all, that the tobacco leaf has flavor. With the aroma you can get tobacco of any taste. Lemon tart, cinnamon, strawberry,
green apple, everything is possible.
As a result, the tobacco tastes different, that is, it does not just taste like tobacco and the intense taste caused by nicotine is reduced. With glycerin, secondly, you get a powerful smoke. In addition, glycerin is also used to moisten tobacco to prevent it from burning.
Third, with molasses you get more creaminess in the tobacco. Shisha is an oriental tradition that invites people to gather around the hookah to share a friendly moment.
What are the essential accessories for smoking shisha?
To smoke shisha, certain accessories are essential. Some of them are essential for smoking and others simply help you ensure maximum safety while using the hookah.
Nozzle
This is one of the most customizable pieces and is the one that allows you to inhale smoke through your mouth.
Sleeve
It is a tube made of silicone, plastic or other hygienic material through which the smoke is transported and goes from the nozzle to the mast.
Rubber seal
The rubber seals are used to both attach the mast to the base and to attach the mast to the bucket.
Molasses collector
Its purpose is to collect and filter excess molasses, which usually contaminates the hookah.
Heating system
It distributes the heat perfectly so that the tobacco heats up evenly.
Aluminum foil
It manages and distributes the heat of the tobacco better.
Punch
It is used to make holes in the aluminum foil.
Coal
It is one of the essential products for hookah, because it is what heats the tobacco. If this is your first time, we advise you to opt for self-igniting coals like the
coal three kings to make it simpler.
Pliers
They help you catch the coals without burning yourself.
Electric or gas stove
It is used to heat coals.
How does a hookah work?
Now that you know what a hookah is, it's time to find out how it actually works. The tobacco is placed inside the hearth and, on top of it, you must place the aluminum foil (under the heating system if desired) and the charcoal, already lit.
In this way, the tobacco is heated and cooked. By sucking through the handle, the molasses is combusted by the coal and the air goes down the mast to the water at the base. This is when smoke seeps into the water and its temperature drops rapidly, resulting in greater smoke density.
Then this smoke passes through the pipe and mouthpiece to the smoker's mouth.
