What is a simple recipe for making waffles at home with a modern waffle iron?
The waffle is a light cake between two plates which give it relief. Its origin dates back to ancient Greece, where a simple dough cooked among metal plates called obelios became popular. They were in fact two heavy metal plates connected to rings, with wooden arms, which were used to make candy during parties and fairs. \r\nIngredients for the waffle recipe (8 units)
\r\n- \r\n
- 250g of wheat flour: this has half the strength; \r\n
- 90 ml of milk; \r\n
- 12g of fresh yeast; \r\n
- Eggs \r\n
- Salt; \r\n
- 1/2 teaspoon of powdered cinnamon dessert or a little vanilla; \r\n
- 140g unsalted butter; \r\n
- 100g pearl sugar; \r\n
- Chocolate; \r\n
Preparation
\r\n- \r\n
- Take the butter out of the refrigerator so that it is not cold; \r\n
- Heat the milk a little, the idea is to bring it to a temperature between 25ºC and 30ºC so that when mixed with the yeast it does not lose its effect; \r\n
- Crumble the yeast with your fingers, add it to the milk and stir with a spoon until it dissolves. If you let it sit for 5 minutes and then stir again with the spoon, you will see that it is almost completely dissolved; \r\n
- In the bowl in which you are going to knead it (by hand or with a mixer) pour the flour, salt and cinnamon and mix with a tablespoon; \r\n
- Make a volcano in the center and pour the milk with the yeast and the egg into it; \r\n
- Let it ferment for about ½ hour or a little over an hour; \r\n
- Heat your waffle maker, place a dough in the center of each mold, don't worry, you don't have to stretch it because the waffle maker already takes care of that; \r\n
- Take the waffles out of the waffle iron, leave them on a plate or, if you want the outside to be crispier, on a rack, and continue with the rest of the batters; \r\n
- Serve with chocolate and milk \r\n
- Enjoy your food ! \r\n
