Karim Benzema, the best player in the world despite the surprise FIFA THE BEST?
Karim Benzema is considered by many to be the best football player in Europe. The French international was notably rewarded with the last Golden Ball and the last UEFA trophy of the year for its XXL season in C1 and in La Liga.
Author of 44 goals and 15 assists in 46 matches last season, Karim Benzema certainly hoped to win the best player trophy during the FIFA The Best ceremony organized on Monday October 18, 2022.
But it didn't happen, because Lionel Messi took advantage of his coronation with Argentina to grill absolutely everyone including Benzema. Worse still, KB9 does not even finish in second place since it is Kylian Mbappé who took the Blues to the final which won this distinction.
Finally, the absence of Benzema during the World Cup was fatal to him. This ranking caused great emotion among the Real Madrid player and his fans. Indeed, following the ceremony The Best, the vote of central defender David Alaba was publicly revealed and caused surprise.
The reason? The Austrian said the vote was done as a team, not just for himself, and that the majority of players voted for the Argentine player.
The Best Trophies
For several years, a ceremony has brought together the greatest players to showcase their talent and award the title of “best player”. The prizes are awarded each year based on a vote involving several groups of people. - Total sum and results : The winner is then determined using the total sum of points obtained. The results are then communicated during the FIFA The Best Awards ceremony.
The 2021 Ballon d’Or
The Ballon d'Or is a prize which rewards each year the best footballer of the year, and which is organized by France Football. This ceremony differs from the FIFA The Best Awards because:- The voters: A jury of 176 journalists representing the whole world are invited to vote for the best male and female player of the year.
- Procedure: Only the 30 names selected are revealed during the ceremony.
- Results: The sum of the final points makes it possible to determine the winner.
