There were even disposable versions, which could not be refilled. The amateur smokes and throws away the electronic cigarette when its contents are used up. But the electronic cigarette technology has evolved considerably in recent years. Most e-cigarettes look more like a large pen. What substances do e-cigarette liquid contain?

\r\nUnlike conventional cigarettes, which burn tobacco to generate smoke, electronic cigarettes vaporize a liquid, which many commonly refer to as e-liquid. This e-liquid is purchased separately in small bottles (called refills), with over 7,000 flavor variations on the market. Most liquids on sale are composed of nicotine (there are also nicotine-free e-liquids), propylene glycol (glycerol) and flavorings. The most common concentrations are 6 mg/mL, 12 mg/mL, 18 mg/mL, or 24 mg/mL. However, studies have shown that the nicotine content certified by manufacturers is not always reliable, often being higher than that indicated on labels.\n
