American aid in billions of dollars: the beneficiaries
\n\nWith the arrival of Joe Biden as president of the United States, a new era of international cooperation is unfolding. But which countries could benefit the most from America's financial aid? Three countries in particular stand out: Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. These nations have often been the center of international attention, each with specific challenges requiring substantial financial assistance.\n\n
Ukraine : strengthen democracy and the economy
\n\nSince Ukraine's independence in 1991, the United States has provided substantial assistance to the development of that country's democracy, governance, security, and economy. By making clear its continued support for Ukraine, the Biden administration may well continue on the same path. The aim would be to strengthen democracy in Ukraine, improve its often dilapidated infrastructure and counter Russian influence.\n\n
Israel : a long-time ally
\n\nIsrael is undoubtedly one of the United States' closest allies in the Middle East. Historically, the bilateral relationship often results in substantial U.S. military and financial aid. The main objective is to maintain Israel's security in the face of neighborhood hostility. We can therefore expect this partnership and assistance structure to remain in place under the Biden administration. \n\n
Taiwan : a special case
\n\nTaiwan is a unique case in American foreign policy. Despite lacking formal diplomatic relations, Taiwan enjoys substantial support from the United States – largely to counter rivalry with China. Modernizing its armed forces and strengthening its economy are among the main uses of American aid. \n\nIn conclusion, Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan project themselves as the main beneficiaries of American aid under the Biden administration. It is clear, however, that the ultimate goal of this aid is not simply financial assistance. It is a tool of American foreign policy to galvanize its alliances, thwart its rivals and promote democracy and human rights around the world. \n\n
