The National Rally and ecology: a worrying disconnection

\n\n

THE National gathering (RN) seems to have a long way to go to understand the issues of ecology. In fact, a recent post on Twitter echoes this obvious shortcoming of the party. A closer analysis of this tweet highlights the degree of discrepancy between the party's position and the realities of environmental emergence that overwhelm us today.

The sad discord tweet

What reignited the debate on the RN's position on ecology was a recent tweet. Beyond the general indignation, this gesture simply reinforced the idea that the party is out of step with the growing environmental sensitivity of French public opinion. \n\nIn response to a publication from Réseau Action Climat – an organization dedicated to the fight against climate change – the official Twitter account of the RN displayed its contempt for the subject. The tweet cynically asks if environmentalism is the new religion that everyone should follow blindly. He concludes in a condescending tone that the party will not succumb to this new “fashion”.

The RN and climate change: Significant progress to be made

\n\n

The tweet in question perfectly illustrates one of the main concerns of critics of the National gathering. The RN has always been considered rather skeptical on an ecological level. Its leaders have often downplayed the impact of climate change or avoided mentioning the subject. This tweet only reinforces this negative perception.\n\nBeyond the tweet, it is obvious that the RN has lots of progress to be made in terms of ecology. The party led by Marine Le Pen must recognize the urgency of the situation and align itself with the environmental concerns of a large part of the French population. The challenge for the party is therefore twofold: changing its approach to ecology, and above all, changing its communication on this subject.

Towards a necessary awareness

\n\n

For the RN, it is high time to seriously take environmental issues into account. Climate change is not just a "fad" or a "religion", but a scientific reality that has implications for everyone. To ignore or minimize it is to ignore an issue that is fundamental to the future of our planet.\n\nThe RN must also understand that ecology is not only a matter of left-wing politics. Today, it is a universal subject that all parties, whatever their political orientation, must treat seriously and responsibly.
