On January 1, 2021, new notable changes to road regulations

\n\nThe start of a new year often brings with it changes, and this year is no exception. Several modifications in the areas of driving license, of ecological bonus and sanctions for speeding are to be noted for the year 2021. \n\n

Driving license: more frequent renewal

\n\nOne of the changes concerns the driving license. From now on, it will be necessary to renew it more frequently, at a rate of every 15 years for category B licenses (light cars) issued before January 19, 2013. The objective of this change is to ensure that the license holder has always with a recent photo and signature, thus allowing better identification.\n\n

Ecological bonus: increased aid for the purchase of clean vehicles

\n\nAid for the purchase of clean vehicles has also been modified. THE ecological bonus, which was already in place to encourage citizens to opt for less polluting vehicles, has been increased. Drivers can now benefit from aid of 7,000 euros for the purchase of a new electric vehicle, compared to 6,000 euros previously. This measure aims to encourage the transition towards more environmentally friendly mobility.\n\n

Speeding: tougher sanctions in perspective

\n\nRegarding the speeding, drivers are even more encouraged to respect speed limits because the penalties have been toughened. The authorities now provide for a halving of the maximum authorized speed in the event of exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h. Drivers also risk license suspension or a higher fine.\n\n

A new chapter for driving in 2021

\n\nThese new rules, introduced from January 1, 2021, aim to strengthen road safety and encourage the transition to more environmentally friendly driving practices. Whether for the driving license, THE ecological bonus or the speeding, drivers are now better informed and more responsible on the road. \n\n
