Hamas refuses to negotiate hostage release as Israel continues bombing Gaza

Hamas issues strict warning to Israel: 'No negotiations' on release of hostages from endless Gaza bombing

\n\nIn the burning context of conflict which is constantly shaking the Middle East, the Islamist movement Hamas recently made an unequivocal comment, putting forward a sine qua non condition: There will be no “ no negotiation » on the release of hostages as long asIsrael will not end the bombing of Gaza.\n\n

No negotiation without cessation of hostilities

\n\nAccording to an official Hamas statement, the group will not initiate any talks aimed at freeing the Israeli hostages until the country definitively ends its air attacks on the Gaza Strip. Some see it as a tactic to exert additional pressure on the Jewish state, and thus obtain a cessation of hostilities.\n\n

The hostage situation: a sensitive issue

\n\nThe issue of Israeli hostages held by Hamas is of great sensitivity in Israel. The detention of Israeli soldiers or civilians by the military group is regularly used as a means of pressure on the Israeli government, thus exacerbating tensions between the two camps.\n\n

The need for an immediate end to the bombing of Gaza

\n\nFor Hamas, the immediate cessation of bombings on Gaza is an essential condition for starting any discussion. The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, regularly subject to attacks by Israel, is particularly worrying. The Islamist movement is therefore calling for an immediate end to these hostilities, to then consider discussions on the release of the hostages.\n\nIn short, Hamas' request is clear: no dialogue can be envisaged as long asIsrael will not end its attacks on the Gaza Strip. A condition which requires deep reflection on the part of the Israeli authorities if they want to find a way out of the current situation, marked by an increasing rise in tensions. \n\n
