\n\nDue to a violent fire, more than 3000 vacationers were forced to evacuate a campsite in the Pyrenees-Orientales. The fire, which started Wednesday evening, was brought under control Thursday morning by firefighters after a fierce fight throughout the night.\n\n

Details of the evacuation

\n\nThe alert was given around 8 p.m. Wednesday. The changing wind and the risk of the fire spreading rapidly led the authorities to take the decision to evacuate the “Les Chênes” campsite located in Argelès-sur-Mer. In total, more than 3000 vacationers were forced to leave their vacation spots in the middle of the evening.\n\nHolidaymakers were taken to nearby gyms and holiday resorts where they spent the night. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the evacuation.\n\n

Fire brought under control by emergency forces
