“Finance losers”, “Europe dunces”: Oppositions criticize the Government
\n\nCalls for reform of economic and financial governance are not new. But when the headlines our political opponents give us are as bold as “Finance losers” Or “Dances of Europe”, this deserves our attention. And this seems to indicate a deeper crisis: that of the traditional approach to financial policy and its ability to meet the expectations of today's Europeans.\n\n
Economic management running out of steam?
\n\nHow did we get to a point where the government is being called finance losers ? The term, as colorful as it is, seems to reflect a feeling of frustration towards economic management deemed inefficient and inequitable.\n\nGovernment policy is the subject of strong criticism, both with regard to the increase in public debt and the management of investments. Opposition voices emphasize an approach that would be disconnected from the reality on the ground and the needs of citizens, favoring a short-term vision rather than a more ambitious and coherent social project.\n\n
A government late on the European scene?
\n\nThe other criticism expressed towards the government, that of dunces of Europe, refers to a supposed incompetence to represent the interests of the nation in a broader European context. Opponents criticize a French position that is too inconspicuous and an inability to influence the course of EU decisions on key points such as financial regulation or the energy transition.\n\n
Beyond criticism: time for change
\n\nFaced with these attacks, the government is required to review its economic and financial policy. The oppositions, which criticize the government, do not only require a change of people in charge, but also a profound transformation of our way of conceiving the economy.\n\nIt will then be appropriate for each political actor to make concrete and credible proposals to restore France's economic image. Thus, beyond the controversies, the imperative need to renew our social and economic model, in the service of citizens and the influence of our country, emerges. \n\n
