In the midst of the conflict in Gaza, Israel continues its colonization in East Jerusalem and shocks
\n\nIn a context marked by tensions with Gaza, Israel ensures the continuity and intensification of its colonization in East Jerusalem, a controversial action that arouses international outrage.\n\n
An expansion that shows no pause
\n\nDespite the climate of tension inherent to the Gaza issue, Israel maintains its pace of colonization in East Jerusalem. The construction sites are not slowing down and new establishments are regularly announced, new constructions which demonstrate the desire of the Hebrew state to maintain and strengthen its presence in this part of the city, proclaimed as its "indivisible capital".\n\nThis colonization policy, although it responds to the aspirations of a part of the Israeli population, is nevertheless carried out against the international community which considers East Jerusalem as a territory occupied since 1967 and which should in theory constitute the capital of a future Palestinian state.\n\n
A policy that provokes a reaction
\n\nThe increase in colonization by Israel in East Jerusalem is a source of questions and tensions. This is seen as a provocation and an affront by the Palestinian residents of the city, but also by the international community. Many countries and organizations, including the UN, have expressed their outrage at this situation and called on Israel to cease its actions.\n\nCritics particularly focus on the fact that these constructions are often carried out to the detriment of Palestinians living in East Jerusalem, who are regularly forced to expropriate and demolish their homes. This situation contributes to exacerbating tensions between the two communities and leads to an increase in violence.\n\n
The impossible resolution of the conflict?
\n\nIn this context, the question of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains a complex equation. If the two-state solution is often presented as the most just and viable solution, the expansion of Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem seems to make it less possible.\n\nIndeed, the latter projects an image of Israel reluctant to make territorial concessions, thus reinforcing the Palestinians' concerns about their future. This situation therefore refers to a conflict which seems to be petrifying, both on the diplomatic field and on the ground itself. It is therefore more than essential to reach a solution which will guarantee the peaceful coexistence of the two peoples, in the heart of this region so often scarred by conflicts. \n\n
