Jordan Bardella explains the RN's abstention on Ukraine
Spokesperson for National Rally (RN), Jordan Bardella recently justified the party's abstention during the European Parliament's vote on a resolution condemning Russia's aggression towards Ukraine. According to Bardella, this abstention was mainly due to one main reason and two "red lines" that the text crossed.
The main reason for abstention
For Jordan Bardella, the main reason for this abstention is found in the very nature of the text presented to the European Parliament. Indeed, according to him, the proposed text was "totally unbalanced" and did not reflect the complexity of the current situation in Ukraine. Thus, the RN preferred to abstain, not wishing to support a resolution that it considered tendentious.
The two “red lines” crossed
