Faced with the horror ofArras attack, the Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal, made a point of recalling the central role of the education system in the resilience of society. “The school is stronger than everything,” he insisted during a press briefing last Wednesday.

The minister spoke the day after the attack which shook the city of Arras, leaving four dead and many injured. Mr. Attal paid tribute to the victims and their loved ones and affirmed the government's desire to face these acts with determination and solidarity.

“School is bigger than anything”

\n\n

Mr. Attal, in his capacity as Minister of National Education, underlined the importance of schools in dealing with these dramatic situations. “School is bigger than anything. It is the place where we learn to live together, where we learn to respect others, to understand them. In these difficult times, it is a real backbone for our society” , he declared.

The minister also highlighted the role of education in resilience and reconstruction after such tragic events. “Education cannot solve everything, but it can help those who are directly and indirectly affected to understand, to express themselves, to overcome their pain.
