A ceasefire is seen as a return to the “barbarity” of Hamas, according to Benjamin Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister refuses to give in to pressure
The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, spoke at a press conference on Sunday, strongly opposing the proposed ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. He argued that any form of respite would strengthen Hamas, seen as a terrorist group by his administration. According to him, giving in to international calls for a ceasefire would amount to submitting to “ barbarism » of Hamas.
A response to international pressure
This declaration comes in a context where international pressure is increasing for an immediate end to hostilities. World leaders, including those from the European Community and the United Nations, have called for an immediate ceasefire. However, Netanyahu insists on the fact that his country's military campaign only responds to acts of aggression by Hamas and cannot be interrupted in a hasty manner.
The accusation of “barbarism” towards Hamas
The term “ barbarism » used by Netanyahu is used by his administration to qualify the actions of Hamas. The Palestinian movement, considered to be the conductor of terrorist attacks by Israel, is held responsible for the current violence in the region by the Prime Minister. According to him, agreeing to a ceasefire at this stage would give Hamas a certain legitimacy, which he considers unacceptable.
Strong domestic support for Netanyahu's strategy
Unwavering in his position, the Prime Minister enjoys the support of a large part of the Israeli population. Faced with incessant rocket attacks, the vast majority of the population rallied behind the offensive led by the authorities. This is considered by many to be necessary to deter Hamas to carry out future assaults.
Faced with these declarations, the future of the conflict and the possibility of a ceasefire remain uncertain. The world continues to monitor the situation with great concern, praying for a quick and peaceful resolution to this never-ending crisis.
The last verb
Netanyahu said: “We will not give in. We will continue to act to restore security and tranquility to our citizens...". A sentence which clearly defines the tough and resolute stance of the Israeli Prime Minister in the face of the current situation.
